We are thrilled to share with you the latest progress at your church plant in Villa Cielo, Colombia, where 65 children and 45 adults now learn about the love of Jesus thanks to The Foursquare Church.
Construction Progress
From the last report until now, we have advanced in these ways:
- Solid, block walls have been built; upper tie beams were placed; and plumbing and walls were set in place for the bathrooms
- Rooftop walls were built; columns and the tie beam were plastered; steel beams for the roof were installed, and columns for stairs were built.
- A template for the concrete platform was assembled; the roof was installed; and divider walls for classrooms and the office were set.
Child Development Center Activities
- Beneficiaries are served on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays in two turns (morning and afternoon) at the director’s house and a caregiver’s house.
- Attendance is 99 percent.
- Children have been taught values and good manners with magic words such as “thanks” and “please.”
- Oral health week brought special attention to correct teeth brushing and what could happen if brushing is not done in the correct way.
- At the end of the activity, an oral health kit was provided to each beneficiary.
- Each received a toothbrush, toothpaste and mouthwash.
- Bibles were delivered to all beneficiaries.
- Parents participated in an activity in which they had to take a Bible verse and create a poster with the most important things about the verse.
What’s Next
During the next 60 days, we will carry out the following:
- Plastering in external walls
- Electric installation
- Tiling of bathrooms and kitchen
- Installation of window protectors and main door, as well as a short beam in the second floor
Challenges
The challenges we have had since the last report so far are:
- To complete the work on time: The deed is still in legalization process administered by the housing coordinator and the council of Montería.
- The management of resources by the church to ensure the construction is fully completed: Providing six loads of filling material to help fix the winter-damaged streets proved difficult for us, but this was achieved thanks to God.
Pastor’s Work in the Community
The pastor and the community have conducted food sales to help fund the ongoing work, pay for agreements with the community board, fix the streets, and benefit the community and the church during the construction. Parents from the community received Bibles, and they were given a tour to the construction facilities to encourage them to support the work.
Testimony
Yenifer Gómez, active member of the church, says:
I feel so happy with the construction of the new church, so we will have a better place to assist the children that attend the child development center as well as the Sunday School. All I have seen them teach has been excellent: good things like good manners, medical checkups with a pediatrician – opportunities the neighborhood children usually do not have due to lack of financial resources.
I also thank God because my husband had the opportunity to work on the construction for a time, and it was of great blessing for us. We keep on praying that this construction finishes in a successful way.
Prayer Requests
- Please pray for a supernatural revival in the life of each child.
- Pray for the new goals and purposes for 2018: A strong evangelistic work in families of children from the program
- Pray for different strategies with enough tools to equip the church with many trainings so families have a change of spiritual, social and financial mentality.
- Pray for the excellent construction of the church and the program.
Thank You
We thank God for the support gave us. It has been a blessing as the families of the community are accepting the presence of the church. A dream became reality with a church that makes a difference and transforms lives not only of adults but also children. We want to continue encouraging these people to follow the path of Jesus Christ.
