We are pleased to share this brief update of the most recent construction progress at your church plant Iglesia Cristiana Cuadrangular-Villa Cielo in Colombia.
Progress to Date
- The church legally registered the land under the name of Mision Cristiana Cuadrangular.
- A civil engineer created our structural design, and we have accomplished 60 percent of the construction. We still need to lift the walls for the first and second floor, install the channel beam and roof, plaster the walls, install wiring for interior electricity, and install metallic doors and windows. Among the steps that have been achieved are:
- Foundation excavation
- Building beams and support columns
- Erecting walls for the church’s multipurpose room
- Pouring the concrete roof above the multipurpose room
- Building the septic tank and installing pipe
- We hired a construction architect as director of the construction and master builder, who sub-contracted his helpers and four crews to perform different activities. The mother church demonstrates Christian love by supplying volunteer resources, labor and financial resources to support the construction.
- The church obtained construction permit from the Housing Office of Monteria municipality. Meanwhile, the director and one tutor opened the doors of their homes to care for the children. We thank God because he has shown his support in all we have undertaken, and we have faith that He will continue with this divine faithfulness to complete this beautiful work.
Challenges Encountered
When construction started, it was difficult for the dump trucks to enter construction site because each of the street entries sustained wintertime damage. The church obtained the necessary filling material for the affected streets.
Statement of Impact
The primary impact the beneficiaries see is the care we give them. Knowing God’s house is being built as a place where they can receive care helps them understand their value – that we believe they deserve the best.
The community quickly noticed the benefits of the church fixing the streets. The church also has been recognized by the community for the work done for children and the educational training from the team members. Many are learning kind, caring treatment extends to the families as well as the children.
Adults see companies coming to the community to work on the church building – something that was not common in this place. Because of this, delinquency risk has diminished as community members see the impact of the church program: Once-a-week beneficiary attendance averages 98 percent.
The children’s health and well-being are supported in many ways. Not only do they like the hand-washing lessons, but many of us have observed them faithfully practicing what they learned. During the times they are under our care, they receive healthy snacks that they like a lot. They also learn about God’s Word through biblical stories and songs, and some are receiving birthday gifts from their sponsors.
