We are eager to share encouraging news with you from the Villa Cielo neighborhood in northwestern Colombia. In this community of widespread poverty, God is gathering the resources and people to construct the new church plant Foursquare Christian Church “Pan de Vida” Villa del Cielo.
Progress to Date
The first step for the construction was the symbolic celebration of the “first stone” by demolishing the existing structure. The program facilitator, mother church partnership committee, the Pan de Vida leadership and the program beneficiary parents and children attended the celebration.
The church plant and Compassion child development center leadership also hosted a welcome party for the Compassion-assisted children and their parents. Approximately 75 percent of the registered children attended the inauguration event. The parents positively committed to support Compassion’s holistic ministry in the lives of the local children. The families expressed their support for the construction of the Foursquare Christian Church and agreed to participate in the church’s activities of Sunday school, healing services, fasts, home visits and evangelistic outreach.
We have completed the purchase of the build site and are now waiting for the final steps to secure the legal deed and construction license. Currently, the leadership team is hiring construction personnel and gathering cost quotations for construction materials.
Challenges Encountered
Recruiting and hiring well-qualified staff to help lead our Compassion activities remains one of our greatest opportunities to trust God’s provision. The pastor and leadership of the mother church, Vivir Mejor, are steady role models in how to assist children and parents.
Thank You from a Beneficiary Mother
“I am very happy to be in the Foursquare Christian Church Pan de Vida and see my son benefitting from the new Compassion program,” a beneficiary mother explains. “I am committed to attend church more often, and I wish deeply to get to know God and live experiences that bless me and my family. I am ready to support in everything needed during the construction. Count on me from now on.”
Requests for Prayer
Please pray for these specific needs for the new church and Compassion program:
- Success in building the child development program
- Well-being of beneficiary children and their families
- Regular attendance by the program beneficiaries
- Wisdom and strength for the pastoral family
- Spiritual and financial growth for the church
We are grateful for all your support and are committed to continue working wholeheartedly for the lives of each of these children and their families.
