First Baptist Church Allen, thank you for your generous support of the church plant, Baptist Bethel Church of Bondeaux / Lorquette. We are pleased to present to you the latest report on construction progress and church activities in the community. Currently, 42 adults and 75 children attend the church. Please continue to pray for God’s work in this community.
Construction Progress
As a result of sociopolitical unrest throughout Haiti, all construction work has been postponed. Despite this setback, the Baptist Bethel Church continues to preach the Gospel in the community.
Challenges Encountered
Sociopolitical unrest is affecting church members by way of economic inflation and lack of security. Additionally, water is becoming scarcer in the region due to lack of rainfall. At this point, even if the sociopolitical situation of the country improved, work cannot continue on the building until water is secured. The construction team is looking to solve the water shortage by bringing it in from a source many miles away, but this has not been finalized yet.
Next Steps
The church is praying that the water issue will be solved so they can move forward with construction. Construction tasks that the church hopes to be completed in the next 60 days include:
- Finish building the walls of the classrooms and the cafeteria
- Pour the macadam floor for the sanctuary
- Finish the cistern and work on the bathroom plumbing
Church Activities
In the past 60 days, there have been 2 new professions of faith in Jesus Christ and 3 baptisms.
Church members celebrated a harvest feast after a week of spiritual revival. The theme for the feast was Psalm 116:12 which says, “What shall I return to the Lord for all of His goodness to me?”
The pastor and members of the community have helped with the construction progress by digging the hole for the cistern, gathering building materials, and bringing water to the site.
Testimony of Impact
I am so happy to be a beneficiary of the sponsorship program here at Baptist Bethel Church of Bondeaux / Lorquette. I am learning about God and how to pray to Him. I am praying that He protects my family and me. In the classes I am learning how to sing and memorize Bible verses. I am making new friends and enjoy playing with my new classmates. This program is a wonderful blessing.
