First Baptist Church, thank you for your faithful support of the Baptist Church Bethel in Haiti. Currently, 246 children and 35 adults are benefitting from your gift to plant this church. The photo above shows the entrance to the cafeteria where children will enjoy nutritious meals.
The construction team and church staff have shown perseverance despite difficulty and they covet your prayers for Haiti. This report includes a progress update and photos.
Construction Progress
The roof was installed over the school and the cafeteria. The roof is being installed over the sanctuary and windows are scheduled to be installed shortly.
Current Context
The political situation in Haiti has caused several delays to the construction schedule. The church plant is located south of Port au Prince in an area that is sometimes difficult to access. It has been complicated for construction materials to be transported to the south. Due to the inflation rate, the cost to complete the construction has increased. The church submitted a budget amendment detailing the increased costs and received an additional grant from Compassion.
Looking Forward
The completed church plant will be a blessing to this community. There will be a big change in the life of the children and families who attend church activities in the safe and spacious buildings. The children say they cannot wait to enter the large classrooms and be protected from the sun and rain. They are excited about learning and having a better space to play.
