First Baptist Church, we are pleased to share with you this initial field report from your church plant, Iglesia Evangélica Bautista del Nuevo Horizonte, in Piura, Peru. As you will see below, the church building is progressing quickly as are the efforts to build the church body by reaching out to the community. Thank you for your support!
Construction Progress
- The foundation forms and concrete support pillars have been set.
- Most of the outer walls have been completed by bricklayers.
- Materials for the roof have been delivered.
Church Activities
Currently, 30 adults, 15 teenagers and 20 children attend the church regularly.
In the past 60 days, two people made first-time professions of faith in Christ.
Staff members visit homes of registered children, take the gospel to parents, conduct meetings with them, and share the word of God. The assistance is a success so far.
Church activities include:
- A gospel course for parents of the children enrolled at the child development center
- Wednesday Bible studies
- Parent meetings with church leaders
Challenges Encountered
- Staff members learning to work as a team
- Preaching the word of God to registered children and their parents
- Working together with proper time management among all the church staff to carry out the work that Compassion does for the kingdom of God
- Bringing more people to the feet of Christ
Next Steps
- Finishing the floors
- Plastering of walls and ceilings
- Painting the walls
- Completing the bathrooms
- Installing doors and windows
Pastor’s Testimony of Impact
Through the support of donors who care for children, we can reach children in this community with the gospel. Seeing the greatness of the construction and new people who come to enroll their children is a great blessing from the Lord through the donors and staff of Compassion.
A member of the church spoke of being very grateful to God for this project because it will be a great help in these times of need, both to know the Word of God and to share with those in need.
A child tells us that he has learned to pray for his parents every day and thanks God.
Praises and Prayer Requests
The staff of the church says this project will be a light for the community because they will be able to reach many people.
They are grateful for the donors’ generous hearts toward children. They thank you for your unconditional commitment to the work of God because you have helped them plant this church to receive people and preach the word of God.
They ask for your prayers for this project and for people who, through it, will come to repentance.
