Columbia Community Church, thank you for supporting your church plant, Mision Saquijá in the Caserío Saquijá community of San Juan Chamelco, Alta Verapaz, Guatemala. The church started to clear the land in preparation for construction. Currently, 50 adults, and 40 children attend church services. Please continue to pray for this church plant as it reaches families in this community.
Construction Progress
The church plant owns a 37,975 square foot plot of land less than two miles from the municipal capital. Before construction could begin, the land had to be cleared of rocks. The church brought in machinery to help clear the land and compact the ground.
Challenges Encountered
The church did not anticipate the large amount of rock that needed to be removed. This made the beginning of the construction process difficult. The church overcame the difficulties and the land is clear and ready for construction.
Next Steps
As a result of a national quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic, construction work has temporarily stopped. When the quarantine period ends, the church will continue construction. They plan to finish the building columns and begin construction on the walls.
Church Activities
The pastor has visited families who attend church services and other families in the community. The church has organized activities to support the construction.
Impact of the Church Plant
Children in the community are happy to learn that the new church building will host a child development center.
Praises and Prayer Requests
The congregation is praying for Columbia Community Church. They ask God to keep everyone healthy and safe during this difficult time. They ask all of their brothers and sisters in Christ to have joy in their hearts and see all the good that the Lord is doing.
