Greetings, Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church! We’re pleased to report that the team at Iglesia Amor Viviente has completed construction of the church auditorium! The auditorium is fully functional and used for worship services, classes and meetings. We are grateful for your support in planting a new church in Honduras.
As the church becomes established, attendance is growing. Since our last report, 10 people have professed faith in Christ and 90 adults and 50 children attend church services.

Construction Progress and Next Steps
Since our last report, the team finished the construction of the sanctuary/auditorium. The roof, doors, and windows have been installed, flooring was laid and the stage area was completed. The team reports that workers are building walls for the kitchen and bathrooms. When the walls are finished, roofing and flooring will be installed.
In the next 60 days, workers plan to accomplish the following tasks:
- Build connecting sidewalks leading to each module.
- Install plumbing systems, toilets and sinks and construct a water collection tank.
- Build a perimeter wall for security.
Challenges and Learning Opportunities
The church plant team has faced challenges including obtaining skilled laborers and the cost of buying and transporting materials from the city to the village. Despite difficulty, the team has persevered and they are confident in God’s faithfulness. Staff share that they see God at work:
“We want to share with you the miracles that the Lord has been performing with us during this entire construction process. God has supported every step and His work will continue to prosper. It has been glorious to see how the church and the community have been involved in all the activities, both in the construction process and raising local resources.”
Ministry Progress
The church has held periods of fasting and prayer throughout the construction process. Staff have also been active in children’s ministry and leading training sessions related to the launch of the Compassion center.
Using the Poverty Probability Index (PPI), staff surveyed the community to find children who are eligible to participate in the child development center. 250 children are now enrolled in the church-based center! On registration day, personnel from the community health center weighed and measured children.
The church and community have supported the construction project in practical ways including:
- Providing breakfast and lunch for construction workers.
- Volunteering labor. Church members volunteered 1,000 hours in building the auditorium, bathrooms, and kitchen roof.
- Providing security from 3:00 pm to 7:00 am to protect the site and materials.
- Volunteering with tasks related to the Compassion center.

Impact of Your Gift
Brayan lives in the community and is a member of the church. He relayed his joy over the new church:
“This church is a tremendous blessing for many families in this community. I have seen a ray of hope in the faces of the children and parents. Our community has never been seen a new church or a child development center that serves children in poverty. It is truly amazing what God has brought through you for the blessing of those who need it the most. Without a doubt, what is happening can only be from God. Since we heard this news, we have been very happy and grateful because God has set His eyes on the children of our village. We believe that the lives of the children will change in an amazing way, and this fills our hearts with joy. Thank you very much and may God continue to bless you.”
Praises and Prayer Requests
The team at Amor Viviente is very grateful for your prayers and generous support. They ask you to join them in prayer for these requests:
- For God’s guidance and presence throughout this process.
- For the children to always receive protection and care, and for their quality of life to improve every day.
- For the child development staff and the church to continue progressing under God’s direction.
Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church, may God bless you abundantly for your kindness toward families in poverty. We look forward to bringing you more updates on the progress of this thriving church plant!
