Greetings from Honduras!
We hope you are doing well and we praise God for your passion for the Great Commission and to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. We thank you for joining us in the mission to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. We believe that our partnership will bring more people to the knowledge of truth and salvation.
My name is Yolanda Rodas, I am the Country Director for Compassion Honduras. Compassion began to support our churches in 1974 through Guatemala and El Salvador offices; the Field Office at Honduras was opened in 1999. I have been serving in Compassion since 2003 and in the Country Director position since 2010. Honduras is a blessed country with wonderful people of a variety of ethnic groups. The majority of Hondurans live in extreme poverty, high violence and broken families but the church, the Body of Christ, is the hope of the world. When we work together, the church is more effective and advances faster.
Your support of church planting is the answer to many prayers of Honduran pastors. Some of them give their lives and resources to proclaim the gospel and to plant churches. We can empower our church partners by giving them resources to plant new churches with holistic child development centers. This is an exciting experience because we know many communities will be impacted with Jesus’ love and many families will be restored to the purpose of God. Many children will reach their dreams in God’s plan.
Church planting is a relatively new experience for us. In this first stage, we are very careful in selecting mother churches that have the vision to plant daughter churches in strategic communities living in extreme poverty that need to be impacted with the gospel. We look for churches with demonstrated commitment to holistic child development that have successfully implemented this strategy before. These mother churches have mobilized their own local resources to secure land, select pastors at their daughter churches and are committed to provide ongoing support to establish a new church. We believe that our growth strategy will be strengthened because we are opening new projects with churches that will receive the support of their mother church that already has experience implementing the program with children.
We really believe that our partnership will positively impact local churches to continue reaching more and more people with the love of God, especially children. Thank you so much for your vision and passion to reach children in poverty.
“They asked us to do only one thing—to remember to help those who are poor. And this was something that I really wanted to do.” Galatians 2:10 (ERV)
In Christ,
