Thrive Community Church, we are pleased to bring you an update from your church plant, Iglesia Cristiana Jesús el Nazareno Mompiche-Benignidad, in Ecuador. Currently, 28 adults and 133 children attend the church (6 of the children who attend are not from the project). Two mothers of children who attend the project have recently professed their faith in Christ.
Progress Since Last Report
- Construction has started; the pillars, walls and the foundation are underway.
- The church has meetings with parents each Saturday with prayer and Bible teaching.
- The church holds workshops about baptism with the children and their parents. They plan to do something special with the children and parents who want to be baptized in February 2020.
Learning Challenges and Opportunities
The church plant is in an impoverished town without commerce. The church must travel to a city 3 hours away to buy construction materials.
Next Steps
The church’s desire is to be able to continue with the construction quickly and build the walls, bathrooms, kitchen, etc.
Recent Activities
The staff members have met with parents in the community encouraging them to move forward with the Lord. The community has not been involved yet in the construction.
Testimony
The mother of one of the children who attends the project is very happy with the social and spiritual work that is being done here. There is no institution that cares about children in this area. She has been able to see changes in her son’s behavior and God is now an important part of their lives.
Thanksgiving and Prayer Requests
Thank God for the donors who support this project.
Please pray for the children in this secluded, rural area with few opportunities for education. Pray for their spiritual, physical, and socio-emotional health.
