Greetings Riverbank Church! We are pleased to bring you an update from your church plant in Guatemala! The start of construction was delayed due to the need for a soil study because the land was on a steep slope. The soil has been compacted and formal construction can begin. Thank you for your patience during this process.
Construction Progress
The 3 slopes were finished, which allowed the reduction of inclination. All unstable materials were removed from the ground. The soil compaction and leveling was completed, forming a suitable surface for the construction.
Challenges and Learning Opportunities
A significant achievement in this process was to see the commitment of people in the community, for removing and compacting the soil. It is amazing to see how God moves lives to achieve the vision.
Next Steps Within 60 Days
As planned, clay stairs and paths will be built to facilitate the transportation of materials. Soon we will open the trench for the building foundation.
Activities With the Pastor and/or Community Over the Last 60 Days
Thirty-five adults and 15 children currently attend the church which meets in temporary quarters. There are 260 children registered at the Child Development Center which meets in two temporary buildings.
- Organizing the community for the work days.
- Participating in the execution of the work.
- Planning the following months and elaborating the timetable to evangelize the community.
Testimony of Impact
In a meeting between the pastor, parents and church leaders, Mrs. Olivia Bac Caal, expressed her gratitude to God. She said the church and the student center project have motivated her to seek God. Her girls have a very strong inclination for the things of God, therefore, she hopes to attend church and seek the Lord with her family.
Praises and Prayer Requests
Although you are physically absent, we are strengthened by all your support, especially the spiritual support. We pray for you as you pray for us, as brothers in Christ.
- Like Paul and Apollos, may we do our job of spreading and planting the Gospel seed and may God give it growth in due time.
- We pray God to supply all needs of those who have made possible this dream of construction.
- May God grant us to find water sources in the church grounds, because the community does not have drinking water.
