Preston Trail Community Church, thank you for investing in the local church in Nicaragua. We’re pleased to bring you a final update on your gift to plant Iglesia del Nazareno.
The mother church, daughter church and construction leadership teams have demonstrated extraordinary teamwork to build the church quickly and with excellence.
Construction Status
Construction started on July 6, 2022 and the final inspection was completed on April 24, 2023. With your gift, the church built a sanctuary, three classrooms, a kitchen and bathrooms.
On April 26, 2023, the church hosted a grand opening celebration. More than 150 parents and children from the community, and a group of pastors and Preston Trail members attended the celebration. There were special presentations from children and church members, refreshments and a piñata.
Photos from the event are pictured below.

Ministry Progress
The new church facilities have transformed this community. Though the church can be difficult to access because of frequently washed-out roads, families regularly attend Sunday services. In addition, neighboring communities see the church as a landmark for safety when facing the harsh conditions created by poverty.
Iglesia del Nazareno now has a safe, clean and functional space for children to grow physically, emotionally and spiritually through Compassion’s holistic child development program. 150 registered children participate in child development activities, and 40% of participants and their families attend church services on Sundays.
The tutors report hand washing has improved now that the children have easy access to safe water and clean bathrooms. Thanks to the new kitchen, children also eat nutritious meals.
Impact of Your Gift
Silvio, a young participant at the center says, “I’m happy because the construction is finished and we are comfortable meeting in our classrooms. My parents encourage me to attend church because God loves children like me. At the church, I learn many Bible stories and have fun with my friends.”
Jorge directs the center and reports he is more committed to the child development program after witnessing the church’s construction. “The new facilities provide many benefits. Not only are the buildings safe and comfortable, but they generate impact on families and homes in our community. Now we have more tools to share the message of salvation and worship God.” Jorge is grateful to you for giving your time, love and resources to this church plant.
With Gratitude
Preston Trail Community Church, your investment in the lives of Nicaraguan families is having an eternal impact. Thank you for partnering with Compassion International to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. May God continue to bless you and your church family.
