We are celebrating new beginnings in the Los Pocitos neighborhood of León in western Nicaragua. After three years without a sanctuary building, unreliable restrooms and only makeshift classrooms, the Tesoros de Jesus church plant is moving forward with construction plans. Because of your generous giving, the Tesoros de Jesus church is now ready to build:
- 1 main sanctuary
- 3 classrooms
- 2 restrooms (one male, one female)
- 1 kitchen
The 30 adults and their families attending Tesoros de Jesus live in too much poverty to afford improved conditions to meet publicly to worship and grow together in the Lord. Food for the 190 Compassion-registered children is currently prepared in the open outdoors where contamination poses a problem. Inadequate restrooms put everyone at risk for sanitation-related diseases. The children of Los Pocitos are most vulnerable and your church-plant assistance will significantly improve their health and education and steady them with faith in Jesus.
The Eternal Impact of Your Gift
We are grateful that your gift will provide the 190 beneficiaries and their families with:
- A secure building for families to attend church and Compassion activities
- Comfortable classrooms for focused learning
- Safe, clean restrooms to help prevent illness and disease
- A hygienic kitchen to prepare nutritious meals and snacks
Through your timely intervention gift, the child and adult beneficiaries will continue to learn supportive health practices and vocational skills and be grounded in Bible-based teaching and trusting in Jesus.
New Beginnings Underway
The church partner owns the deed to the property and is generating the architectural plans for the sanctuary building, bathrooms and kitchen. The Compassion field office is supplying the design for the classrooms. A construction company and skilled contractors are being hired for the masonry, electrical, plumbing and sewer work. The expected completion of the entire construction project is March 2108.
Looking Ahead with Praise
New beginnings for the Tesoros de Jesus church started with barren ground and focused faith. Together we can thank our God for His faithful provisions. Please pray for the Los Pocitos children and their families to be drawn closer to Him through this safe, inviting church environment. May God’s love and care be evident from the original blueprint sketches to every gathering in the worship center in the years to come.
