A Final Update on Your Support of Church Planting in Honduras

June 29, 2021

Thank you, Lakeland Community Church! Your generous support of Iglesia de Dios Vivistorio in Honduras is making it possible for 150 children and 120 adults to receive God’s love and care. At this point, all major construction is finished and the children are excited to utilize the new space. In the photo above, church staff give a young boy a bag of school supplies.

This report includes updates on the implementation and impact of this intervention, a testimony from the project director and testimonies from a church leader and the mother of a beneficiary.

Implementation Progress

The church formed an implementation team that was instrumental in completing all tasks associated with this intervention. The team included church staff, national office staff, external contractors and engineers. Together, they secured construction permits, hired construction workers and acquired materials from a local supplier. The engineer then created a design for the new church facilities and construction began. Now, the church facilities include a newly-built church sanctuary, three classrooms, a kitchen, an office and bathrooms for boys and girls. The supervising engineer visited the construction site three to four times each month to ensure the building was structurally sound.

Impact of the Intervention

This intervention is impacting 150 registered children who now have a safe space where they will learn, grow and develop. Families, including 120 adults, have also been impacted as they receive care and attend church activities where they are encouraged to grow in faith. Beneficiaries and their families have been especially appreciative of the church’s support during the COVID-19 pandemic and Hurricanes Eta and Iota. They received food relief packages, hygiene kits and school supplies.

A Testimony From Luis, the Project Director

“I am very blessed to be able to serve God’s people. God has given me the opportunity to see many parents come to know the Lord. I know that God has great plans and a purpose for each child and their family. I am very grateful to each of our supporters, because they have given us the opportunity to build a church and child development center in our community.”

An Interview With Denis, a Church Leader

How have the lives of the affected beneficiaries been changed since the intervention’s completion?

Children are now participating in center activities and benefiting from holistic care. The caregivers often express that they are thankful their children are part of the program and receive Biblical teachings.

How has this intervention benefitted the church and community?

We now have a safe space where we can provide holistic care to children and their families.

How has this intervention affected your ability to minister to the beneficiaries?

This intervention has allowed us to share God’s Word with more people. We have the opportunity to be closer to the community and can reach more families through their children.

What would you like to say to those who provided the financial support for this intervention?

Thank you so much for all of your support that has allowed us to have a child development center in our church. May God bless you.

An Interview With Cristina, the Mother of a Beneficiary

What was your life like before and after the intervention was implemented?

Before the intervention, my life was very difficult, because we did not have much support in our community. The intervention has been a blessing in our lives. During difficult times, we have received a lot of support and spiritual mentorship from the church. I enjoy spending time with my daughter as she completes her assignments.

What will this change mean for your future or the future of your family?

This change will allow children to have a better future. I’m thankful that they learn about the word of God.

What lessons have you learned from this intervention?

Throughout this process, my daughter has learned about God. Every day, she is motivated to learn more.

What would you like to say to those who provided the financial support for this intervention?

Thank you so much for helping communities in need. I pray you will be blessed.
