Greetings, Lakeland Community Church! Thank you for your gift to plant a church, Iglesia de Dios Vivistorio, in Comayagua, Honduras. Your support will impact children, their families and this community for years to come. In the photo above, children celebrate their birthdays at the church and receive a blessing.
This report includes updates on construction progress and recent church activities, testimonies from a member of the church congregation and the father of a beneficiary, and praises and prayer requests.
Construction Progress
Construction is being finalized with assistance from caregivers in the community. As they volunteer, church staff share the hope of Jesus with them.
Challenges and Learning Opportunities
Community members are fearful of COVID-19. This has been challenging because some people choose not to come to church. When they do come, they often leave their children at home to protect them and other family members who are vulnerable. In response to the challenges of the pandemic, the church continues to provide nutritious food and hygiene kits to beneficiaries and their families so that they stay healthy and safe.
Next Steps
In the next 60 days, the church will begin in-person church services in the church building with a limited number of people. They will follow all of the recommended safety measures.
Church Activities
Church staff have held several worship services for parents and other members of the community. They use this time to share the hope of Jesus with one another. Currently, 40 adults regularly attend church gatherings.
A Testimony From Luis, a Member of the Congregation
“The opening of our church has been a positive event in my life. It has filled a great void! Many families have never directly heard the word of God, but now, their children are being impacted by the salvation only God can give. This encourages us to reach out to other families, so they can be saved too.”
A Testimony From Fredy, the Father of a Child Registered with Compassion
“I am very happy to be blessed with the opportunity to come to this church with my family. We were searching for a local church that doesn’t just speak to the people with words but with actions. This is an answer to our prayers.”
Praises and Prayer Requests
Please join the church in praising God that caregivers are faithfully attending church services and finding hope in God. The church is grateful that they are able to extend a helping hand to those in need during difficult times.
