Thank you, Mission Hills Church! Your gift to plant Centro Cristiano in Ecuador is making it possible to reach children in a remote jungle in the Amazon rainforest. These children will be empowered to rise above their circumstances through holistic care from Compassion staff. Church leaders share that God has been present in every detail of the church planting process.

Construction Progress and Next Steps
Church staff and construction workers are currently building classrooms and bathrooms. They will finish painting and installing windows after the structures are built. Caregivers continue to help with transporting water for making cement. A group of volunteers from Chile will be arriving to help construct the sanctuary soon.
Church Activities
Currently, 10 adults and 25 children regularly attend church services. The church rejoices that in the past 60 days, 10 people have professed faith in Jesus. Church staff visited homes to share the gospel.
The church delivers baskets of nutritious food to children and their families. Recently, the church held workshops for parents on child protection and the importance of parents in the lives of their children.
Church staff and congregants help with construction, clearing land and transporting materials to the construction site.
Challenges and Learning Opportunities
The cost of transportation to this community is high, because there are not always enough canoes to cross the river. This makes it challenging to transport teachers who commute to the church. Church leaders have learned that the love of Christ motivates them to unconditionally care for their neighbors.
A Testimony From a Church Leader
“Ismael was born with a face deformity. He feared rejection and hid so people would not see him. He would run away from the teachers and pastor because he was embarrassed. Today, he has learned that he is valuable and worthy of love and respect. He understands that God has a great purpose for him. He interacts and plays with the other children. He likes to go to church where he prays, sings and tells others about his life. Ismael receives food and takes the vitamins and dewormers we gave him. His quality of life is improving now that he knows about God’s love.”
Praises and Prayer Requests
The church praises God for your willingness to support them and for the opportunity they have to witness your generosity. Please pray that church staff would stay healthy, that the church would have the resources they need and that God would help them in all they do to care for children.
Thank You for Your Support
Your generosity is giving hope to children in remote Ecuador. Thank you for partnering with Compassion International to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. May God bless you!
