Greetings, Mission Hills Church! Thank you for your gift to plant EC0231 in Morona Santiago, Ecuador. Your gift will provide holistic care to 150 registered children in one of the poorest regions of Ecuador in a remote jungle in the Amazon rainforest. In the photo above, the pastor helps with church construction.
This report includes updates on construction progress and church activities, a testimony from a community member and praises and prayer requests.
Construction Progress
The church secured a half-acre plot of land that was donated by the community. They recently began construction. Construction workers have:
- Purchased raw materials.
- Prepared 1,500 wooden boards.
- Leveled the ground.
- Laid a concrete foundation.
Challenges and Opportunities
Variations in weather have been a challenge to the construction team. It has also been difficult for them to transfer materials due to poor road conditions. There have been opportunities for church leaders to devote time and strength to helping with construction.
Next Steps
In the next 60 days, construction workers and church staff plan to:
- Transport raw materials to the construction site.
- Hire carpenters who will help build the church.
- Purchase construction tools.
- Divide into teams with specific tasks for greater efficiency.
Church Activities
Currently, 35 adults and 100 children regularly attend church services. The church rejoices that in the past 60 days, 10 people have professed faith in Jesus. People are recognizing their need for God, and they praise him for his care.
The church continues to be involved in organizing teams to complete construction and helps with the transportation of construction materials. Caregivers in the community help by providing food.
A Testimony From Vicente, a Community Member
Vicente is a local resident who provides transportation across the Macuma River. He shares how the church has impacted him. He says, “It is good to see that God has remembered us and that the church has come to help us, both physically and spiritually. This gives me hope. God loves me, and I can count on him.”
Praises and Prayer Requests
The church praises God for providing for their community so that children can learn about Jesus. They ask that you would join them in praying for the beneficiaries and their families, for the health of the community, for a team of trained church staff and for people in the community to grow in their relationship with God.
