Thank you, Mission Hills Church! Your gift to plant a church in Peru is allowing many children and their families to experience the love of Christ! Staff members at Evangelical Church of Pilgrims want you to know that your support is changing lives. In the photo above, church staff celebrate the opening of the church with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
This report includes updates on construction and church activities, two testimonies from a mother of a child registered with Compassion and the church pastor, and praises and prayer requests.
Construction Progress
Construction is now complete, and the church building has been painted. A grand opening was held to celebrate with church staff and the community. Caregivers volunteered to help with the finishing touches.
Challenges and Learning Opportunities
Even though the church faced challenges due to the pandemic that delayed construction, they continued to trust God. They thank God for his faithfulness and believe that God never abandoned them.
Next Steps
Now that construction is complete, church services will take place in person instead of virtually. The congregation and church staff will adhere to all recommended safety protocols. The church will also continue implementing a communal garden next to the church.
Church Activities
Currently, 17 to 23 adults and 20 to 25 children participate in church activities. The church praises God that four individuals have made first-time decisions to follow Jesus in the past 60 days! Many in the community are excited to learn about the gospel.
Church staff plan to engage in evangelism activities virtually. They will also continue to develop the “I Learn for Life” program, which will be administered virtually. They hope that the pandemic improves soon, so they can carry out these activities in person again. During these difficult times, the church continues to provide families with food relief.
Testimony From Gladys, the Mother of a Child Registered With Compassion
“Thank you to everyone involved in this project. We are thankful for your gift, because our community is not well-known. We believe that the Lord put goodness in your hearts to lead you to help us. The church building is very nice, and we hope that the pandemic will end soon, so our children can attend activities at the church and learn many things that will serve them well in life. God bless you!”
Testimony From Willy, the Church Pastor
“We are filled with joy to have seen the church being built, from start to finish. We hope that the church can grow over the years and that we will share the gospel with nearby communities. Caregivers have seen that we as a church care about each one of them, and they are very grateful to all of us. We hope to continue supporting and serving everyone. Blessings to you!”
Praises And Prayer Requests
Staff at Evangelical Church of Pilgrims in Peru are grateful for your support that has blessed their community. They pray that the Lord would continue to bless and prosper you too. They ask you to pray for God’s blessings on the children and caregivers who are most vulnerable, and they ask you to pray that families are protected from coronavirus. Finally, please pray that the church would grow and that all glory and honor would be to God. Thank you very much!
