Greetings, Menlo Church! Thank you for your gift to support the Survival program at Jesús Nazareno Child Development Center, based at Iglesia del Nazareno Monterón in Peru. Because of your generosity, mothers and their babies receive nutritious food, attend medical checkups, engage in income-generation workshops, build relationships with one another and grow in their faith in God. Currently, 10 mothers and their babies are receiving Survival support at this church. In the photo above, a mother named Maria writes a letter of gratitude to you for the many blessings she has received during her time in the program.
This report includes a letter from a caregiver in the program, photos of recent Survival program activities and information on Compassion’s strategy for ensuring mothers are supported through pregnancy and delivery.

A Letter From a Caregiver at Jesús Nazareno Child Development Center
Dear Friends,
My name is Maria. I am living at my parents’ house with my two children. My son is 11 years old and my daughter is seven months old. When I found out that Iglesia del Nazareno Monterón was enrolling new mothers, I was very happy because my baby was given the opportunity to be blessed by the Survival program.
My baby’s name is Dayli. I thank God she is healthy and growing every day. Her height and weight are recorded each month by the Survival Specialist. I really like the lessons Survival staff teach me, because they help me to understand the stages of infant growth and development. Their advice is always helpful. I also participate in a sewing workshop via Zoom.
I feel overjoyed and am very thankful for the Survival program. God has given us many blessings through this program. May God shower his blessings on each of your lives too. Thank you very much!
Sincerely,
Maria

Survival Program Spotlight: Delivery Care
The health of mothers and newborns is intricately related. Because of this, Compassion church partners provide prenatal care to give expectant moms and their babies the support they need for a safe and healthy birth. Mothers are able to attend prenatal medical appointments, when in the past they could never have considered such an expense. They also receive transportation to their local health center or hospital so they can keep those appointments. If their pregnancy has proceeded smoothly, skilled birth attendants guide and support them through the birthing process. Mothers who develop complications are connected to advanced medical care (including surgery, if necessary). After the babies arrive, the program gives the new mothers baskets filled with hygiene supplies and newborn necessities. All of this is possible through your generous giving!
