Greetings, Menlo Church! Thank you for supporting Compassion Survival in Peru. Your gift enables mothers and babies in extreme poverty to receive holistic care from trained Survival staff at the Ayudando a Soreir Child Development Center in Piura, Peru. Currently, 15 mothers and their babies are receiving much-needed Survival support at this church. Survival care includes home visits, supplemental nutrition, microenterprise training and medical checkups. This report includes a letter from Deysi, a caregiver in the program, photos of recent Survival program activities and photos of babies who have transitioned to home-based care through Compassion’s Sponsorship program.
In the photo above, a mother named Dilcia displays pillows that she made and plans to sell to generate income for her family.

A Letter From Leyla, a Caregiver at Ayudando a Sonreir Child Development Center
Dear Friends,
My name is Leyla. I want to thank God for all that He has done in my life and for my family. I am thankful for the support I receive through the Survival program including food baskets, diapers, baby clothes and supplies.
I also want to thank my mentor for her advice and spiritual guidance and for each biblical teaching, because I have been learning to trust God, even during this time of the pandemic. God has taken care of my family, and I am very grateful for your prayers. I want to continue learning more of God’s word.
Thanks to the program, we have also learned how to make crafts, such as bows and pillows, so we can run a small business.
I will be praying for the Compassion program and for God to bless all the people who send their support to our children.
Many blessings,
Leyla
Recent Survival Activities at Ayudando a Sonreir Child Development Center
The church gave caregivers kits which included wipes, ointment, shampoo and warm clothing for their babies. The kits also included lesson materials on infant development. Idelsa is a tutor who makes home visits to all of the caregivers and reviews infant development curriculum during her visits.
Microenterprise training for caregivers is an important part of Compassion Survival. In a recent workshop, the church provided materials and caregivers made craft items to sell as a source of income for their families.
Babies Transition to Compassion’s Sponsorship Program
Thanks to your support, these babies have celebrated their first birthdays and transitioned to home-based care through Compassion’s Sponsorship Program. They will continue their growth with the guidance provided to them by the staff at Ayudando a Sonreir Child Development Center and a loving sponsor.
