We are excited to share with you the progress made to date at your church plant, Iglesia Evangelica Bautista “Jesus es la Puerta” in Piura, Peru, where 12 adults and 70 children regularly attend church.
Construction progress
After your generous support was received, construction on the new church began April 17,2018, and excitement in the community is growing as they see it progressing. As of July 30, they achieved the following:
- Oscar Huamán was hired to be in charge of the construction.
- José Luis Siancas Valdez, Pastor of the daughter church, coordinated the purchase of materials.
- Master builder Marcos García and 15 other builders were hired.
- The first phase of construction included the building plans, staking the layout, excavation, laying the foundation and construction of columns.
- The second phase of construction is near completion, which includes: perimeter brickwork; framing of the multipurpose room, bathrooms, and classrooms; plastering the bathrooms; and plumbing installations.
Challenges
The church leadership reports, “Our challenge is to grow as a project and as a church in this community of Palmeras, in order to benefit more people in extreme poverty.”
Church Activities
Pastor Luis Siancas is regularly visits the homes of the project’s children and residents of the community. Staff also evangelize in the community and outside the construction area. Bible studies are conducted in homes.
It is a great blessing to have this Spiritual help for my family. The project has caused us to attend the church and listen to the word of God. Our children are going to Sunday school and they are learning to pray. We are grateful for your help in the difficult times for our family, as the church is supporting us.
