Greetings, Frisco First Baptist Church! Thank you for your gift to plant Truth and Life Baptist Church in Mexico. Your generosity will impact children and their community for years to come. In this report, you will find construction updates, a summary of church activities, a testimony from a church leader about a family who accepted Jesus, and praises and prayer requests. In the photo above, construction workers begin to build the kitchen and dining room walls.
Construction Progress
Great progress has been made on construction. Since the last report, each of the two sections of classrooms have been completed. The first section of classrooms now has floors, a roof, and plaster on the walls. The second section of classrooms, which already had a roof, now includes rustic finishes. The foundation has also been laid for kitchen and dining room construction, and the workers are building the walls.
The church reports that church members who had not seen the recent construction progress were surprised and amazed to see God’s favor reflected in the new classrooms, dining room, and kitchen.
Challenges and Opportunities
The church thanks God that they have been able to continue construction without interruption. However, due to the economic effects of the pandemic, the church slightly reduced the number of construction workers. Church leaders trust that God will provide the necessary local funds and that the work will continue.
Next Steps
In the next 60 days, the church will work to finish the second section of classrooms, including painting and placing the windows and doors. The walls of the kitchen will also be built, the ceiling of the dining room will be placed, and electricity will be installed.
Church Activities
Currently, there are 150 adults and 73 children who attend this church. The church rejoices that six people have professed their faith in Jesus over the past 60 days.
The church continues to provide spiritual care to families through broadcasts of Sunday worship, prayer, devotionals, and discipleship. The pastor makes visits to church members and new believers within the community, taking into account safety for all. The church plans to host micro-enterprise workshops to help families generate income. Church-level fundraising activities such as food and dessert sales will continue.
A Testimony From a Church Leader
“A few weeks ago, one of the construction volunteers brought a father, Juan, and his two children to the church facilities, because he worried that Juan had been drinking, and his children had not eaten. We took care of them emotionally, we offered them food, and above all, we shared with them the gospel that saves and transforms. After talking with them, the children told us about the problems they were going through. Their mother had abandoned them, taking their younger sister with her and leaving them with their father, who had become addicted to alcohol. The children were very sad. The father decided to surrender his life to Jesus Christ, together with his children. From that day on, they continued to come to the church facilities where Juan started helping with construction, and the children could have breakfast and lunch together with the workers. The children expressed their gratitude and joy, seeing the change in their father who had stopped drinking liquor. Glory to God for the miracle that he has done in the life of Juan and his two children! Now, brother Juan is working on the construction site, and he helps the children, bringing them clothes and shoes. We would like to be able to enroll the children in the project, so they can be helped in a permanent way.”
Praises and Prayer Requests
As the church continues to complete the construction they are thankful for your generosity. They praise God that the work is already having an impact on the community and that they have had the opportunity to share the gospel with the construction workers who continue to be discipled.
The church asks that you pray for the following:
- Pray for relief from the pandemic in their city, so they can come together as church after being without in-person Sunday services for nine months.
- Pray for success as they raise local resources to pay for construction labor.
- Pray for families facing heightened financial challenges in the midst of the pandemic.
- Pray for the care of the construction crew and volunteers and that they would persevere in their belief.
- Pray for the project to be completed in a timely manner.
