Greetings, Frisco First Baptist Church! Thank you for making a difference in the lives of children impacted by Truth and Life Baptist Church in Oaxaca, Mexico. The church is encouraged that even while it is challenging to reach the community during a pandemic, God has touched the lives of construction workers on this project who believe in Jesus because of the testimonies of church members who work with them. The church says, “They are no longer just workers but brothers in Christ.”
In this report, you will find a construction worker’s testimony, the most recent construction details, a summary of church activities, and praises and prayer requests from the church.
Construction Progress
The church continues to be committed to the construction work taking place each day.
In the six classrooms, the walls have been completed. One of the two classroom sections also includes rustic finishes, floors, and plaster on the walls. A steel structure is in place for the roof. In the second classroom section, they are preparing to add electrical wiring and are getting ready to install a roof.
Next Steps
Within the next 60 days, the roofing of the two classroom sections will be completed as well as the electrical installation and finishes. The construction of the kitchen and dining room will begin.
Challenges and Learning Opportunities
The church has continued to see God’s provision in paying for labor throughout the pandemic. However, in recent weeks, labor expenses have increased as the church began supporting additional workers who are building the roof and completing necessary electrical installations. The church is raising funds locally, but with some church members out of work, it has been a challenge. Nonetheless, the church’s faith is being strengthened as they continue to trust that God will bless their efforts and help them raise the necessary local resources.
Church Activities
Currently, 150 adults and 73 children are a part of the church congregation. In the last 60 days, four people have come to accept Jesus as Lord.
As coronavirus outbreaks increase in Mexico, the pastor continues to provide spiritually for the congregation through radio broadcasts of Sunday worship, prayer, devotionals, and discipleship. The pastor attends necessary visits within the community, including visits with new believers when possible, taking into account safety for all.
Church members will also be volunteering with church construction in effort to supply as much labor as possible. The congregation is selling food and desserts to raise the necessary local funds.
Testimony of Bulmaro, a Construction Worker and Father of a Child Registered With Compassion
I thank God for giving me the opportunity to work on the church construction project as a brick layer. Thanks to this work and thanks to you, I have been able to bring food and sustenance to my home and family.
Working on the construction of the classrooms has been a great blessing. I am grateful for this project that is very important and beneficial for the children. My son, Saúl is enrolled in the program, and the support he has received has been very helpful to all of us, including my wife and three sons. As a family, we thank the donors who have made a big effort to support church construction and the pastors and congregation who have helped us.
I personally thank God for allowing me to know Him. In this time that I am working here, He has changed my life for the better through the teachings and advice of my brothers and sisters in Christ that have helped me to be able to live a happy and joyful life. Thank you!
