A Message From Compassion’s Partnership Facilitator, Edney
Compassion’s partnership facilitators manage relationships with local churches, helping them build capacity, mobilize resources and strengthen ownership of the ministry.
Greetings!
May the grace and peace of the Lord be with you. What a joy it is to write this letter to you! I am delighted to serve God at Compassion and to serve each of our partner churches.
Aparecida is a town of about 10,000 people located in the high sertão (arid highlands) of the state of Paraíba in northeast Brazil. The market is the center of life for this small town. For families struggling economically, the Government Income Transfer Program is not enough to meet their basic needs.
Igreja Evangélica Batista de Aparecida has been active with its integral mission work. Pastor Francisco and his wife, Maria, are highly respected in the community for taking serious action to attend to people’s needs.
Your generous support to launch the child development center has enabled the church to register 355 children in the program. Children now participate in activities focused on physical, cognitive, spiritual and socio-emotional development. Their parents and guardians will attend meetings and activities addressing themes such as family relationships and health care for their children.
The church team organized the program days and times, as well as all the needed materials. Through your launch support, they were able to buy important items for the center’s launch, such as a refrigerator, a stove, and chairs and tables. The team feels very grateful and loved, knowing people care about every detail and God doesn’t forget us.
Now the center is open Tuesday through Saturday every week, offering many activities that the children enjoy. Parents are learning the importance of caring for their children and especially of teaching them the Word of God, as Proverbs 22:6 tells us.
I wish you the blessings of the Lord and his will in your lives because his will is good, perfect and pleasant.
With love,
Edney, Partnership Facilitator

Recent Program Activities
The center started serving children and their families in April 2022, where they first registered 200 children. Now, 355 children participate in program activities and of those, 319 have been sponsored!
Pastor Francisco is Grateful for Your Support
Dear Friends,
Grace and peace to you. We thank you for your launch support to help children develop holistically. May God pour out his blessings upon you.
With the funds you provided, we purchased a mobile phone to take photos and to communicate with caregivers, a laptop to provide child updates, and a printer to print the children’s activity sheets and sponsor letters. We bought children’s chairs and tables. We purchased a freezer, a refrigerator, sinks, a stove and an oven. We installed doors to divide rooms and a drinking fountain for children to remain hydrated.
We are working to complete the construction of the new building. We have two concrete floors poured and ready for coating. We are finishing the electrical and hydraulic work and have completed almost all of the plastering. We have started the painting and are sealing the walls. We have finished the metal roofing and have installed almost all of the doors.
The center’s influence in our community is widely acknowledged here. Every person we meet on the streets talks about the positive impact the center is having on children’s lives. Today, more than ever, we have an open door to preach the gospel. Every house is receptive to Bible study, prayer or even worship services. Children and adults attend church services and understand the gospel message. Today, people have a new vision of the church because we present a holistic gospel.
In the coming years, we want to continue sharing God’s love for families and children. We want to strengthen our partnerships, engage families in loving children, and advance in strengthening the program for the kingdom of God. We want to bring even more light to a society in darkness.
May the Lord bless you abundantly,
Pastor Francisco
Thank You From Participants
The children pictured below drew you pictures to thank you for your support to launch their new child development center.
An Interview With Francisco
Francisco is 5 years old and lives three minutes away from the center. He and his father ride their bikes to get to the center.
He likes to go to the center to play, learn about Jesus and visit with his friends. He especially enjoys playing games with his friends.
Francisco has learned that God loves him and will always be there for him. When he grows up, he wants to be a police officer.
In the picture on the right, he’s dressed to march in the center’s Brazilian Independence Day parade.
