First Baptist Church Tulsa, we are so grateful for your gift to launch a new child development center at Lemblisong Southern Baptist Church in the southern Philippines.
The church is located in an area of extreme poverty and serves a community of 2,000 people. Children who live in extreme poverty face many challenges and are especially vulnerable to malnutrition, illness and abuse. Compassion aims to ensure that every child who participates in our holistic child development program is known, loved and protected.
Church Priorities and Ministry Progress
Families in this community live on an average of $35 per month, making it difficult for caregivers to provide for their children. The church desires to help lift children out of poverty by providing spiritual guidance, health care assistance and holistic child development activities.
Children at this center have been registered, supplies have been purchased and staff have been hired. Participants will attend program activities for six to eight hours on Saturdays. Lemblisong Southern Baptist Church prioritizes nutritious meals, medical checkups and cognitive development activities for all children participating in the program. Children and their parents are also hearing the good news of the gospel and growing in hope.

An Update From Compassion’s Partnership Facilitator
Compassion’s Partnership Facilitators manage relationships with local churches, helping them build capacity, mobilize resources and strengthen ownership of the ministry.
Dear Sponsors,
Greetings from the Philippines! I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generosity and commitment to launching this child development center.
Lemblisong Southern Baptist Church is located in a large agricultural area, where most residents work as farmers and opportunities for other types of work are scarce. Exacerbating the region’s extreme poverty, the pandemic brought new illness and reduced families’ access to food and job opportunities. As a result, children especially suffered from malnutrition.
The church is dedicated to serving their community. With limited resources, they initiated a children’s ministry and their own feeding program to eliminate the malnutrition among children.
With your gift, the church has been able to launch a Compassion child development program and has registered 63 children. Every family in this community is excited about the program and has a renewed hope for their children’s future.
Staff members have been trained, and church leaders have been working hard to begin programming. As a church, they desire to share God’s love with the community, disciple children in Christ, and work to alleviate poverty.
As their partnership facilitator, I am excited to see what God will do in their community through this church. Please continue to pray for them as they minister to families living in extreme poverty.
Thank you again for your support. May God bless you!
In Christ,
Aljuncie, Partnership Facilitator
