First Baptist Church Tulsa, thank you for your gift to launch a new child development center based at Moravian Church in western Tanzania. The church is located in a rural area of 314,000 residents who live in extreme poverty. Thank you for supporting vulnerable children.
Church Priorities
The new Compassion-assisted child development center is bringing hope to this community. Children and families in this area experience deep poverty, living on an average of $21 per month. Adults work primarily as subsistence farmers or animal herders and can barely afford to meet basic needs for their children.
The community has few public school options for elementary and high school students and private schools are too expensive. Many children are malnourished because parents cannot afford nutritious foods and there are limited health facilities nearby. Additionally, premature marriage, gender inequality and a lack of quality education plague the population.
As Moravian Church shares the gospel, the team also seeks to provide education and health services from a Christ-centered approach to alleviate poverty in their community. Your gift equips the church as they demonstrate God’s love for children and families who may have felt forgotten and unseen.
Ministry Progress
Moravian Church has hired and trained staff, and the child development center is fully equipped to serve children. Staff have registered 150 children to benefit from holistic child development. Participants will go to the center for 6 hours a week, typically on Saturdays. They will hear about God’s love for them, and receive medical checkups, nutritious meals and educational support.

Dear Friends,
Greetings from Tanzania! I hope you are blessed by God and that your family is well. On behalf of the church, I would like to convey my earnest gratitude for your generous and humble heart to support the 150 participants at this center.
With your gift, the church has made improvements to implement core and extracurricular activities. They have renovated two standard classrooms, built bathroom facilities, completed an office, and purchased kitchen utensils and office supplies.
Church staff have hired tutors and a program coordinator to implement the program. The church has also secured local resources to maintain a conducive learning environment for the participants. I am certain this child development center will greatly impact the children and their families in this community.
