First Baptist Church Tulsa, your latest church plant, Iglesia Bautista Bethel, continues to progress toward completion in Unión Juárez, Chiapas, Mexico. In this latest field report, you’ll see that the building is beginning to take shape, and the families are taking the initiative to support the church as their own.
Construction Progress
The church continues with the first phase of the construction. With the walls and roof in place, the concrete flooring and foundations are the main priority.
Church Activities
Currently, 25 adults and 100 children attend the church regularly.
In the past 60 days, three people made first-time professions of faith in Christ.
The pastor and the parents of the registered children are happy with the construction of the church. The children are eager to see their classrooms finished and to begin having classes there. To help with the effort, parents clean the land around the new building.
Challenges Encountered
We have had a great challenge in maintaining the trust of each child’s parents and encouraging them to send the children with full confidence in the child development center. We work hard to let them know that there is no risk to be in a place under construction, and that they do not have to worry about loose materials such as nails, pieces of wood or iron – and they can participate in this process.
Next Steps
For the next period of time, the concrete for the floor will begin to be placed in each room. The roof of the kitchen will be installed, as will bathroom accessories. After that, we will work on the finishing details throughout the property.
Testimony of Impact
A father commented that the construction of the church will be a great blessing. He noted that, because we are in this process of construction, such a good amount of effort and attention are directed toward the children. And he is excited to see how much more will be done when the work is finished.
Praises and Prayer Requests
We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing (2 Thessalonians 1:3, NIV).
We ask you to pray …
- for the community, which is mostly Catholic, to be open to allowing children to attend this child development center despite a difference in beliefs
- for the families of each child who attends the center
- for the safety of the workers involved in the construction
- for each one of the tutors; that God will provide them with the wisdom that comes from above (James 3:17) because they are the ones who must conduct themselves correctly as examples for the children
- for the local authorities; that God blesses their work and that they will always be willing to help or collaborate in the development of our activities
We continue to thank God for you, who showed your love for God by manifesting this support for us. We pray that God will prosper you as before.
May God keep you well and may we finish the construction on time and well.
