Emmanuel Baptist Church, your generosity is making a difference to 15 mothers and their babies who participate in the Survival program at Poder de Dios. The church is located in an area of extreme poverty in Santa Elena.
By supporting Compassion’s Survival program, you are giving babies the best possible start in life, ensuring they get the care they need, from before birth until they reach their crucial first birthday. From regular growth monitoring and supplemental food, to immunization and specialist care, they are known, loved and protected from the very beginning.
This update includes details on the impact of the Survival program and a letter from Cinthia, a caregiver in the program.

Renewing Hope for Cinthia

Dear Sponsors,
May the Lord bless the life of each one of you in a great way. My baby’s name is Liam and he is 6 months old. I am very grateful that I can participate in the Survival program. During my pregnancy, a Survival Specialist visited me, prayed for me and my family and gave me the opportunity to join the program.
I am learning about the Bible and I have shared the message of salvation with my family so they know about God, our Savior. The program is a gift to my family in many ways; sometimes my husband can’t find work and the food parcels help me to feed my family.
In the program, I am learning skills that will help me to start my own business and generate income. I’m also learning about infant development; my son has achieved goals such as rolling over, grabbing objects and sitting.
Through the caring staff and home visits, I feel supported and know that I am not alone. One of the greatest blessings is knowing that thanks to this beautiful program and to the church, I know that my baby is healthy. He receives medical checkups and staff always keep an eye on our health.
Thank you for investing in the moms and babies who belong to the program. Please pray for my family. I will be praying that God will bless you in a great way and that you can continue helping each family. My family and I send you a big hug through the distance.
May God bless you,
Cinthia

Your gift enables the church to serve vulnerable mothers and their babies. The church hosted an open house for the community with an emphasis on the Survival Program. The pastor gave a brief message and children from the Compassion center also participated in the event.
Survival Program Spotlight: Malnutrition Prevention and Treatment
Malnutrition is an underlying cause in more than a third of all deaths of children under 5 (UNICEF). These deaths can be attributed to stunting, severe wasting and
restricted growth inside the womb. But most of these deaths can be prevented through proven and simple interventions. With this in mind, the Survival program
incorporates several key services to preserve the physical well-being of these precious little ones:
- Caregiver education on preparing healthy meals.
- Therapeutic feeding services.
- Provision of food packs that include essential nutrition and vitamin supplements.
- Promotion of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life.
- Regular monitoring of each baby’s height and weight to ensure their growth is on track for their age.
Thank You for Your Support
Emmanuel Baptist Church, your gifts are helping to create healthier lives for mothers and babies. May the Lord bless you as you have blessed those in need. Thank you for partnering with Compassion International!
