Iglesia del Nazareno La Gloria de Dios is based in the community of “Felix Sarmiento y Colonche” located in Santa Elena, in the west zone also known as the Coastal region. Santa Elena has 144,000 residents, 60% of whom are children. Typical homes are made of sticks with dirt floors and tin roofs. Although people try to earn a living as peddlers or in tourism and fishing, families in this area live on less than $2.00 a day. Children often suffer from malnutrition and health problems.
John Jimenez and his wife Ginger Guzman (pictured above with their daughter) are leading the daughter church. They have been serving in Santa Elena for the last year, prior to that they led small groups for five years in the mother church.
The church is actively ministering in the community and 150 children are registered at the child development center. Forty adults and 60 children regularly attend the church. In September, six parents of sponsored children made a profession of faith.
