Awaken City Church, thank you for your commitment to the Gate of Heaven Church in San Mateo el Zapotal, Mexico. Construction progress continues at the building site. Construction Progress
Most of the basic construction of the building is finished. The roof has been installed on the sanctuary. The construction team is now working on installing the toilets and will soon be adding the roof on three classrooms and an office.

Challenges and Opportunities
The construction site is remote, which makes it more difficult for church leadership to oversee the building’s progress. Consistency with how work is performed is also a challenge. Workers often have very different ways of performing the same tasks. For instance, two bricklayers may have different criteria for how they do their work. By improving their communication, the work is being finished in a consistent manner. Despite the challenges, great progress has been made on the project and the church is encouraged. A nearby church decided to help with the project by providing more workers and wood. The provision of materials and construction help from this other church has inspired and uplifted the congregation of Gate of Heaven Church.

Next Steps
- Install the plumbing and the toilets in the bathrooms.
- Install the dividing walls in the bathrooms.
- Place ceilings in the classrooms and the office.
- Add plaster to the interior walls.
- Pour the concrete floor throughout the building.

Church Activities
Currently, eight adults and 13 children attend church services.
The pastor of the church has been encouraging the construction workers, supervising the project, checking reports, and helping however is needed.

Many people in the community of San Mateo and in the surrounding area are surprised to see this building made of brick and concrete being built. Years ago, there was only a small 16×19 foot wooden church in the community. Today, by God’s grace the building is nearing completion.
