Greetings Awaken City Church, thank you for your continued support for the Gate of Heaven Church in San Mateo Zapotal, Mexico. All building materials have been purchased and construction progress is being made. Continue to pray that this church will grow and actively meet the needs of children and families in this community.
Construction Progress
- The church held a special service to initiate the beginning of construction and dedicate the work of the church to God’s service. This special service included the placement of the church’s first stones by parents of children served by the church.
- Construction progress is consistent and the church has all the materials to finish the building.
- Construction workers have started work on two classrooms.

Challenges Encountered
- Inconsistent quality in the construction workforce’s performance.
- There are no adequate kitchen facilities to prepare food for the workers, however a makeshift place for food preparation has been created by a church member.
Next Steps
- Workers are building the walls of the sanctuary and preparing to place the sheet metal roof.
- When the sanctuary is completed, building materials will be stored there for safety.
- Construct the brick walls of the remaining rooms in the building.
- Level the interior ground of each room to add the floors.
Church Activities
Currently, six adults and 12 children attend church services.
The church leadership and the building committee have been supervising the construction project. They maintain an inventory of construction materials and draft progress reports to document the construction process. The pastor has been making home visits to some local families in the community.
Testimony of Impact
This project is a great blessing to the families and the community of San Mateo Ejido. It will be an opportunity to bring the Gospel message to the unreached and transform many lives starting with children in the program. Additionally, bringing medical care and education to the children and their families brings great hope to the area.
